Site Visit to Rosewarne House

April 2016
A chance to have a look around the historic Rosewarne House in Camborne currently being renovated by RIBA Cornwall branch member Lesley Price and her family. In addition to the main house we had the opportunity to view the work being carried out to convert the outbuildings into cottages using a variety of conservation techniques.


Site Visit Tate St Ives Extension
St Ives

An opportunity to see the extension works to Tate St Ives museum with a guided tour by architect Jamie Fobert. Access kindly allowed by the Tate. We were given access for 20 people to view the works on site and view progress. A really interesting and informative site visit. A return tour is hoped for on completion!
The Cornwall Architectural Trust Summer Lecture: Stan Bolt

Follwing the success of the Summer Lecture last year, this year the Cornwall Architectural Trust and Falmouth University invited Stan Bolt to be our Guest Speaker. We had a fantastic turnout selling around 130 tickets. After the lecture the drinks reception was held in the sub tropical gardens of the Architecture Studio offering attendees a chance to meet the students and view the end of year exhibition

Networking Summer Boat Trip
Falmouth
July 2016
The first networking summer boat trip organised jointly with Women in Property. The cruise lasted for 2 hours around the Falmouth area and was a great success attracting around 70 delegates all enjoying a pasty and pint on board. The weather was particularly kind and many people stayed to carry on networking in Falmouth following the event. Kindly sponsored by Marshalls.

Green Build Hub, Eden Project

The Annual General Meeting for RIBA Cornwall and The Cornwall Architectural Trust. Cian Spowart took over as Chair for the next 2 years. The meeting was followed by talks from Gilbert & Goode (contractors for the building) and architects PBWC as well as a chance to look around. We were also pleased to be joined by representatives from the Cornwall Sustainable Building Trust.

Sandcastle Competition
St Ives
September 2016
Now in its fifth year, and again held on Porthminster Beach in St Ives. This popular event attracted a great many people and acted as a fantastic way of getting the public to engage with architecture. This year the event was again part of the St Ives September Festival and organised with PBWC Ltd and RIBA South West.
CAT Lecture & Dinner 2016:
Alison Brooks
National Maritime Museum, Falmouth
November 2016
This year the Annual Cornwall Architectural Trust Lecture and Dinner moved to the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth. This year's guest speaker was award winning architect Alison Brooks who provided a great insight into her extensive portfolio of work.
The event was extremely popular this year and sold out. Sponsored by Ibstock and Cornish Concrete Products and supported by RIBA SW.


Christmas Lunch & Branch Meeting
Mannings, Truro

Returning for the third year to to Mannings Restaurant in Truro for 2016. Following out December branch meeting to discuss ideas for 2017, we enjoyed a fantastic 3 course Christmas Lunch and drank mulled wine. A great end to an action packed year for RIBA Cornwall!
